Thule Connect Car Seats & ISOFIX Systems
Thule Connect Car Seats with Smart Safety
Thule Connect car seats combine advanced child car safety with intelligent digital support. The Thule app, smart installation feedback and coordinated components help you check important installation and everyday safety steps more easily.
Start with the Thule Maple Connect infant car seat, combine it with the Thule Alfi Connect ISOFIX base and later continue with the Thule Elm Connected 360 – one modular system designed to accompany your child from their first journey into the toddler years.
Thule Connect Car Seats: Smarter Child Safety
Thule Connect Car Seats combine advanced child car safety with intelligent technology designed to make everyday use easier to understand. The idea is simple: you should be able to feel confident that your child's car seat is installed correctly and that important safety steps have been completed before you start your journey. Instead of relying only on your own checks, the Thule Connect system can provide additional digital feedback and support through the Thule app.
The system consists of compatible components designed to work together. For your baby's first journeys, there is the Thule Maple Connect infant car seat. At the heart of the system is the Thule Alfi Connect ISOFIX base. When your child grows out of the infant carrier, you can continue using the same base with the Thule Elm Connected 360 toddler car seat.
This means you are not simply buying one individual car seat. You are choosing a modular Thule car seat system designed to accompany your family from your baby's first journey through the toddler years.
What is the Thule Connect car seat system?
With a conventional car seat, you check the important installation steps yourself. Is the ISOFIX base securely attached? Is the support leg positioned correctly? Has the infant carrier fully connected to the base? Is your baby properly secured in the harness?
Thule adds an extra digital layer to these proven mechanical safety features. Compatible components within the Thule Connect system can work together with the Thule app to provide additional information and guidance relating to installation and everyday use.
This does not mean that an app takes responsibility for safety. The physical protection still comes from the construction of the car seat, its harness, impact protection, correct installation and proper use. Connected technology is designed to help you check important steps and make the system easier to understand.
At Kindermaxx, this is what we find particularly interesting about this new generation of car seats: technology is not added simply because it sounds innovative – it is used to help parents use the car seat correctly.
Thule Alfi Connect is at the heart of the system
The central component is the Thule Alfi Connect ISOFIX base. It attaches directly to the ISOFIX anchor points in your vehicle and can remain installed in the car.
This makes everyday family life considerably easier. Instead of installing an infant carrier with the vehicle seat belt every time you travel, you can place a compatible Thule car seat directly onto the already installed base.
AcuTight supports correct installation
The AcuTight technology is designed to make installing the Thule Alfi Connect as straightforward as possible. It supports you when securing the ISOFIX base correctly in your vehicle and helps make the installation process easier to understand.
This can be especially useful for first-time parents. Terms such as ISOFIX connectors, support legs and car seat bases can initially sound technical. A system that provides clear feedback can make these important steps much less intimidating.
SenseAffirm provides digital feedback
The Thule SenseAffirm System adds easy-to-understand digital feedback to the mechanical installation. A digital display uses visual indicators together with audible feedback to help you check important settings.
The benefit is simple: you do not have to rely entirely on whether the installation looks or feels correct. The system gives you an additional indication that important installation steps have been completed before you set off.
EasyDock simplifies everyday use
Thule has also considered how often parents attach and remove an infant carrier. The EasyDock system is designed to make attaching compatible car seats to the Alfi Connect base quick and intuitive.
The cone-shaped interface allows you to place the seat onto the base from different angles before rotating it into the correct position and locking it securely.
This is particularly useful with an infant carrier. If you take your baby out of the car several times a day and later return the infant carrier to the vehicle, you do not want to perform a complicated installation every single time.
Thule Maple Connect for your baby's first journeys
The Thule Maple Connect infant car seat is designed for your baby's first journeys. It is suitable for babies measuring 40 to 75 cm and weighing up to 13 kg.
Thule has designed the Maple Connect for more than just travelling in the car. It can also form part of a practical travel system and is compatible with the Maxi-Cosi™ adapter interface. With the appropriate adapters, it can therefore be used on compatible Thule pushchairs.
This can be particularly convenient when your baby falls asleep during a journey. Instead of immediately taking your baby out of the infant carrier, you can remove the carrier from the Alfi Connect base and transfer it to your compatible pushchair.
eBuckle helps you check the harness
One of the most interesting Connect features of the Maple is the eBuckle by Holmbergs™. It provides feedback using light and sound when securing and tightening the harness.
This is a good example of what we consider useful smart technology. The feature does not secure your baby for you. Instead, it gives you an additional check during a safety-related step that you perform before every journey.
Protection and comfort for your baby
Of course, digital technology should never distract from the primary purpose of an infant car seat: protecting your baby. The Maple Connect features the Thule Impact Protection System together with an integrated 3-point harness.
A soft newborn insert is designed to provide additional comfort for smaller babies up to 60 cm. The infant carrier also offers an ergonomic lie-flat position for use outside the car and a more upright safety position when travelling in the vehicle.
A large water-repellent canopy with UPF50+ UV protection provides additional protection from the sun and changing weather conditions when you are out and about.
The Thule app as your digital companion
The Thule app brings the different Connect functions together in one digital environment. It can guide you through setup and provide additional safety information and status feedback for compatible components.
This can also be useful when several people regularly travel with your child. Perhaps you use the car seat during the week, while your partner or grandparents take your child out at the weekend. Digital guidance can help different caregivers understand important steps within the system.
With the Thule Maple Connect, the connected system also includes a child-presence warning feature designed to alert you to the risk of your child being left unattended in the vehicle after a journey.
The app should always be considered additional support. It does not replace your own checks. Before every journey, you should still make sure that the car seat is correctly installed and that your child is properly secured.
Thule Elm Connected 360 for the next stage
Eventually, your baby will outgrow the Maple Connect. This is where one of the biggest advantages of the modular system becomes clear: you can continue using the Thule Alfi Connect ISOFIX base.
For the next stage, you can move to the Thule Elm Connected 360. Instead of starting again with a completely different base system, the Alfi Connect remains the familiar central component in your vehicle.
This makes the Alfi Connect a long-term part of the Thule child car seat system. Combined with the appropriate compatible seats, the system covers children from 40 to 105 cm and up to 18 kg.
Why is a 360-degree rotating seat useful?
A rotating car seat can make a noticeable difference in everyday life. You can turn the compatible seat towards the open car door, place your child inside, secure the harness and then rotate the seat back into the required travelling position.
It may sound like a small convenience, but if you put your child into and take them out of the car several times every day, being able to turn the seat towards you can make the process much more comfortable.
Why is an ISOFIX base useful?
One question parents regularly ask us at Kindermaxx is: do I really need an ISOFIX base?
One of its biggest advantages is the combination of convenience and a fixed installation that does not need to be completely repeated before every journey. The Thule Alfi Connect remains attached to the ISOFIX points in your vehicle. You then attach and lock the compatible car seat onto the base.
This is particularly useful with an infant carrier that is frequently removed from the vehicle. It reduces the number of installation steps you need to repeat during everyday use.
The Alfi Connect goes one step further by adding digital installation feedback. AcuTight, SenseAffirm, EasyDock and the Thule app work together to provide additional guidance when setting up and using the system.
Is Thule Connect automatically safer?
This is an important distinction: a car seat does not automatically provide better crash protection simply because it has an app, sensors or connected functions.
Physical protection continues to depend on factors such as the construction of the car seat, its approval, correct installation, choosing the right seat for your child's size and securing your child properly before every journey.
The strength of the Thule Connect car seat system lies primarily in supporting correct everyday use. If technology can help draw your attention to a potential installation or usage issue before you start driving, it can provide a valuable additional layer of support.
The relevant Thule Connect car seat products comply with the applicable UN R129/3 requirements and the stated i-Size requirements for the individual product.
Our Kindermaxx experience with Thule Connect
At Kindermaxx, we have many years of experience with infant car seats, rear-facing car seats, toddler seats and ISOFIX systems. One thing we have learned is that the quality of the car seat itself is only part of the story. It is equally important that parents can understand the system and use it correctly in everyday family life.
This is why we find the Thule Connect family particularly interesting. Thule has not simply tried to put as much electronics as possible into a child car seat. The individual digital functions have a clear purpose: to provide additional feedback and make important safety-related steps easier to understand.
We also like the modular concept. You can start with the Thule Maple Connect, use the Thule Alfi Connect as the central base and later move on to the Thule Elm Connected 360.
This creates one connected system for different stages of your child's development, with familiar operation and intelligent safety functions designed to support you in everyday use.
Which Thule Connect car seat is right for you?
For a newborn baby, you start with the Thule Maple Connect infant car seat. To take full advantage of the ISOFIX and connected features, combine it with the Thule Alfi Connect ISOFIX base. Once your child has outgrown the infant carrier, you can move on to the Thule Elm Connected 360 and continue using the same Alfi Connect base.
This creates a carefully coordinated modular car seat system in which the individual components are designed to work together. For you, that means less need to learn a completely new system, familiar operation and one connected platform designed for several stages of your child's development.
