What does my baby really need?

One of the most beautiful, and by most parents also the most popular task is the furnishing of the baby's room. Whether you have a separate room for your baby or not, there are some products you can't do without.

Which baby cot do I need for my newborn?

A baby cot or a co-sleeper? Hmm, or should my baby rather sleep in the family bed? Everyone should find the answer to this question for themselves - there is no right or wrong here. Several factors play a role in the decision to find a suitable baby bed, the most important are the needs of the child. As you know, newborns need a LOT of attention and closeness in the first few weeks, so some babies can only sleep peacefully in a family bed. If you really want your baby to sleep in a cot or crib, it is possible to swaddle the baby if necessary. As babies are wrapped up tightly in this process, they remember their time in the womb and as a result, newborns then sleep much more peacefully.

Should I buy a baby cot?

If the baby sleeps in its own room, a cot is ideal. As Kindermaxx attaches great importance to quality and sustainability, we can recommend a convertible cot. What clothes does my baby need?

Baby clothes look super cute, don't they? Although it's hard to resist the large and beautiful range of baby clothes, remember that babies outgrow them very quickly. It doesn't pay to buy too much baby clothes, otherwise you may have to give away some clothes that have never been worn. However, the newborn should have enough bodysuits, rompers and shirts, because you won't have much time to do laundry in the first few weeks. How do I care for my baby's skin?

We often hear that baby's beautiful skin doesn't need much care. However, this is not entirely true, because even baby's easily irritated skin should be given appropriate care, but you should not overdo it. There are a few products that you can't do without, such as diaper cream, a bath thermometer, flannels, a hooded towel, a manicure set and, of course, a baby brush.
Depending on the season, suitable care should be given to your child. In winter, or on cold days, you can't do without a wind and weather cream. Our Naïf weather cream prevents the skin from drying out and prevents painful, chapped and reddened skin. On sunny days, baby's sensitive skin should be protected with a sun cream. Don't forget to treat your darling with after sun.

What does my baby eat and what do I need?

What is needed depends on whether the baby is breastfed or bottle-fed. On our Checklist you will find everything you might need, for a bottle-fed as well as a breast-fed baby. For bottle-feeding, you can check with your midwife which formula she recommends. What is needed in both cases are burp cloths. Believe us when we say that you can never have too many. Whether your baby is breastfed or not, you'll also need some tea bottles and soothers.

It is also highly recommended to buy a high chair with a newborn insert. This will give the baby a place at the family table from day one. The newborn can also lie in the high chair while you prepare the delicious meal in the kitchen. How do I find the perfect pram?

A good pram is worth its weight in gold.

For most parents, the search for a pram is one of the most tedious and time-consuming purchases. The choice of prams is huge, which doesn't make the search any easier, but even more confusing for most. To make the pram search go smoothly, there are a few questions that need to be asked and answered before you and your partner decide on a pram. One thing to keep in mind - the pram should be able to adapt to your lifestyle and you, not the other way around! Step by step, we will now explain to you what a pram search should look like:

1. look for a nice baby or children's shop where the staff are well acquainted with the products - because the most important thing when looking for a pram is good advice
2. questions like: What does my everyday life look like? Am I sporty or not? Where do I live? Do I have a lot of storage space for the pram or not? What is my budget/how much money do I want to spend on a pram? must first be answered before a pram can be suggested.
3. once these questions are answered, the person advising you can give you a couple of prams to choose from and explain the advantages and disadvantages to them
4. you and your partner choose a favourite and voila - the perfect pram is already found.

Is a baby carrier practical?

A baby carrier makes your baby feel safe and secure while you have both hands free to get things done. Babywearing is very comfortable for both parents and baby and strengthens the bond between the two. You have the choice between a baby carrier, a sling and the so-called hybrid carrier: a carrier and sling in one. The choice of baby carrier is purely a matter of taste. Using a baby sling often takes a little time until you learn to tie the sling properly - that's why a baby sling is a no-go for some parents.

How important is a baby car seat?

Safety first! The baby must not be transported in the car without a baby car seat, no matter how short the journey. A baby car seat reduces the risk of injury to the neck and throat and must always be used against the direction of travel. Before you buy a baby car seat, you should definitely seek advice. As with prams, there is a wide choice and there are things to look out for. Don't forget that the most important thing is that the person advising you is familiar with the products.

What do I always need to take with me?

A diaper bag is often undervalued - many mamas say that they can manage with a large bag. That may be true, but a proper diaper bag or backpack is extremely practical. Why? A changing bag has plenty of room for all the things you need when you're out and about. It has practical compartments, so you can easily keep track of everything and always have everything at hand. No matter where you go, you can't do without a changing mat! You never know where and when the nappies need to be changed. So that your baby can always have fresh nappies everywhere, you absolutely need a changing mat for on the go. And of course, you should not be without: Wet wipes, bottles, soothers, spare clothes and necessary care products.
